Product information "Embroidery Design Praying Hands after Dürer scribble"
A copy of this motif always hung with my grandmother, I always found it fascinating. I find the sad legend surrounding this picture even nicer.
At the end of the 15th century, a family with 18 children lived near Nuremberg. The father worked very hard to support his family. Two of the children dreamed of becoming artists but knew that their father would never be able to support them. They decided to toss a coin. The loser would work in the mine and financially support his brother's studies. Albrecht Dürer won and went to university. After a few years of very successful studies, Albrecht came back and the family had a party. Albrecht spoke to his brother: "Dear brother, now it's your turn to realize your dream as an artist. I'll take care of you." His brother was very touched and said with tears in his eyes: "No brother, it's too late, look what time has done to my hands. The bones have been shattered several times and a joint infection makes it impossible for me to hold a brush. "
The story is by an unknown author. It attaches no importance to the historically verifiable facts. Rather, she tells, very freely - in the form of a legend, a deep truth.
The scribble design needs a high color yarn contrast to recognize it well, because it is drawn and not a full-size file and the background color is included. Here it is ideal with dark yarn on a light fabric.
